Clients included EKC Technology Inc; SCP Global Technologies; The Ross Company; Bjorne Enterprises; Wilson, Sonsini, Goodrich and Rosati; IRS; Center for Economic Development-University of California, Chico. [1989-Present]

 

      Co-Founder of rural Community Action Network (Rural-CAN) (2004-Present). Promotion and support of California rural development by establishing tools to foster coordination and cooperation between federal, state, and local organizations.

 

      Founder of Semiconductor Services Inc. Designed and marketed training materials and training seminars for microchip manufacturers and their suppliers. Conducted market studies for suppliers to the semiconductor industry. Clients included Dow Chemical, Union Carbide, NEC, AMD, IBM, Nikon, SEMI and Dupont. SSI was sold in 1988. A Peter Van Zant semiconductor video, "AT The Limits" is part of the Smithsonian's permanent exhibition; The Information Age; People, Information & Technology. [1981- 1988]

 

      Author of Microchip Fabrication, 5th Edition. The semiconductor industry's best selling text. Published by McGraw Hill Books. Mr. Van Zant has written a number of other industry manuals and many technical and training articles.

 

      College Instructor of Semiconductor Technology at Foothill College (Los Altos Hills-Ca.). Also developed special programs to train foreign engineers as well as entry level process technicians. [1975-1978]

 

      Marketing and New Products Vice President of EKC Technology Inc. of Hayward, Ca. Established a national and international sales force to sell state-of-art semiconductor process chemicals. Increased sales ten-fold in two years. [1978-1981]

 

      Process Engineering and Management positions with IBM, Texas Instruments, National Semiconductor and Monolithic Memories (now AMD). Designed, set up and staffed several wafer fabrication lines. [1961-1975

      Personal   Peter lives with his wife Mary in Nevada City, CA. He is an active member of local community groups. His hobbies include hiking, canoeing, photography and playing bluegrass bass. Mr. Van Zant was elected as a Nevada County Supervisor and served from 1997-2004.

      Wilson, Sonsini, Goodrich and Rosati: Expert witness. Case involved an intellectual property issue over wafer fabrication process of a semiconductor start up company. The case was settled out of court. [1988]

 

      Internal Revenue Service: Expert witness. (Commissioner vs. National Semiconductor). Conducted agent and attorney training sessions, reviewed taxpayer documents, prepared expert witness report, testified in Federal Tax Court. [1990]

 

      Don't Waste Arizona: Expert witness for non-profit organization challenging the City of Phoenix over the siting of a silicon wafer plant in a business park. Attorney training, manufacturing process review, deposition. [1994]

 

      Meyers, Brown, Rowe, Maw: Expert witness. Prepared review of industry practices in wafer fabrication and packaging. On-site inspection of client's production facilities. [2002]
